Homeschool Book

Does anyone home school in Loudoun county, Virginia?

Sparkle asked:

I recently submitted a portfolio to the school division for evaluation and I received a call yesterday from the head administrator. She was confused as to why I sent the portfolio to her office and she did not know my child's grade level or that I had another child also home schooled. She also criticized my child's bibliography on his report on Chile. I could understand if she had a problem with his grammar or sentence structure, but his bibliography? (She said one of the books used was missing a year published) I am very uncomfortable with this school division doing an evaluation on my children. Can anyone advise me on what to expect with the Loudoun County home schooling office? I have heard of school divisions giving home schoolers a hard time, and I am beginning to think that is what's happening to me.

Here are the laws for Homeschooling in Virginia.

Are you sure you need to submit their work?

    Hi!
I Homeschool here in Loudoun County, (Western Loudoun).
You do not need to do all of that.
    Go to for the law.

I buy a CAT test from Seton for 25.00 each year, have my kids take it, and send the scores to the Superintendents’ office.

If you want to have portfolios evaluated, you can have a teacher, (who does that kind of thing), evaluate it, and send a form in.

Sounds like you sent things to the school, which is not legally required.

If you need more info, post back and I’ll try to help.
